Once known as Jack Tar, the space has been reimagined into a relaxed yet refined venue that gives Wynyard Quarter the neighbourhood soul it’s been missing.

At the heart of it all is Alex Pearson — the embodiment of his Manchester roots and a true worker bee. Rising through the ranks from Bar and Restaurant Manager to Business Leader, Alex has built a workplace that flips the script on what hospitality can be. His leadership and passion have shaped a culture of care, creativity, and drive — one that’s taken The Pav to new heights, including winning Best Entertainment Venue (sponsored by OneMusic) at the 2025 Hospitality Awards.

The Pavilion keeps the good times rolling all week with local events for everyone — Wynyard Wednesdays with live music and drink specials, Friday sunset sessions featuring Auckland’s best DJs, and Kids Sundays, where little legends dig into $6 kids’ meals by the sea.

Beats Bingo, held once a month, is an absolute staple at The Pavilion — a wild mash-up of your favourite tunes, hilarious hosts, and dancefloor energy that turns a regular night out into an all-out party. It’s part quiz, part singalong, and all good vibes — the kind of event that has everyone on their feet before the first round’s even over.

It’s also the place to be for events — from long lunches and birthdays to corporate celebrations and waterfront takeovers.

In the kitchen, Head Chef Tim Tierney, raised in hospitality through the Pacific Resort Hotel Group, brings his “simple done exceptionally” approach to every plate. Expect instant favourites like Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza, the Korean Fried Chicken Burger, and the classic Caesar that keeps you coming back for more.

Behind the bar, things get just as exciting. Sip your way through Espresso Martini Trees, a Vanilla Blood Orange Martini, White Peach Sangria, Pink Gin Sangria, or something fresh and floral with a hit of Elderflower — the drink list is as fun as it is refreshing.

Designed by award-winning studio Ctrl-Space, the 1930s heritage building blends timber, light, and nautical charm into a bright, modern take on the classic yacht club.
